Overseas Pro-Am

The Northants P.G.A.’s annual European Pro – Am returned to the Algarve and was once again generously sponsored by Phil Thomas of ‘Belmont Press’ in Northampton. The event over four rounds featured 13 teams accompanied by their professional. The Professionals played a four round medal competition, whilst the amateurs contribute scores to count towards the team event.

The Individual event was won by Shane Rose (Cold Ashby)  with 71, 70, 76 for a Level Par score of 217, runner-up was Tim Maxwell (European Senior Tour) with 74, 73, 74 for a +4 total of 221. The other notable Northamptonshire Professional was Nick Soto (Northants county) with scores of 77, 77, 75 for a 229 finishing 4th.

The team event was won by Tony Taylor (Macclesfield GC) with Amateur players Mark Foley, Mark Stevens and James Murphy with 139, 143, 128 for a 410 (-24) Total, 2nd was Tim Maxwell's team of Cath Rawthorne, James Marner and Steve Best with 138, 139, 133 total of 410 but losing on the last card!

The Hole-in-Ones are coming thick and fast now with Karen Lobb's making it 4 in 4 events.
