This year's event was dominated by England International Gary Boyd and his Professional Jason Newman from Cherwell Edge GC. Gary was in stunning form having just returned from the West of England where he finished 6th and lowered his handicap to +3.

In the morning foursomes round they were tied in 1st place with three others on 72. although a series of bogeys at the 10th, 15th, 17th and 18th holes spoilt the makings of an excellent score.

In the afternoon Better ball round County Captain Neil Presto and Simon Fitton of Thorpe Wood GC posted a 66 and being second out they had to wait a long time to see if their score of -5 would be surpassed. After 9 holes Jason and Gary were 5 under, They continued to pile on the pressure with an eagle at the 12th, followed by birdies at the 13th and 17th to finish with a fantastic 134.

On presenting the trophy the New Northamptonshire County Golf Union President Les Cantrell was delighted with the result and said 'The depth of our young players in the county is tremendous, all credit must go to the Professional's on the work they are doing. The future looks bright when you see the ability that is available to the county!"
