On what started a fine spring day but turned very unpleasant for five holes when the wind and rain arrived, the Northants PGA held their Winter Series Pro Am at Peterborough Milton. The event was sponsored by club member John Roe through John Roe Associates. Eighteen teams contested a shot gun start, playing over the new lengthened Peterborough lay out, the scoring in the Professional was mixed, two stand out scores led the way. Stuart Kier (Overstone Park) shot a one under par 70, he was followed by Dan Wood (Brampton Heath) and John Chivers (Cold Ashby) on 72 but once again Simon Lilly of Wellingborough eclipsed everybody by returning a winning total of 69 three under.

In the team event Simon’s team of Colin Bishop, Chris Ellson and Andy Lilly blew away the rest with a score of 127 fifteen under par to win by seven shots. Second was Dan Wood on 134, closely followed by the team of John Chivers 135, who just squeezed past David Poolton’s team on a back nine count back.
