Season So Far!

The juniors have completed the first part of the Northamptonshire County junior league, They won 3 of the four matches played and tied the other, The victories were a notable thrashing 6-o of Staverton 'A' Team at home and Victories away at Brampton Heath and Cherwell Edge! the draw was at home to Kettering who we pipped to the mini league title! Now comes a semi-final place against Peterborough Milton at Kettering golf club next Sunday! The other Semi-final is between Northant's County 'A' and Staverton 'B'.

Junior Captain James Elliot along with Mark Jordan, Sam Buss and Ollie Nightingale have represented the county juniors this year and have had varied success. The U-18 narrowly lost the Anglian title to Nottinghamshire on matches won, however all the boys did well in their respective matches. James also had a great deal of success in the Nick Faldo Junior Series coming through his qualifying group matches but narrowly lost in the regional final finishing 3rd!

James Elliot, Mark Jordan, Sam Buss, Chris Kay and Alex Blanchard helped the Men's Scratch team to Victory in the Northamptonshire Golf Union (NGU) 4th Division, in the process getting promoted to Div 3 and a mouth watering clash with Sister club Cherwell Edge!

Another Great Achievement

The NGU's Stableford cup was played at Silverstone yesterday, and two of our junior's won. Mark Jordan and Josh Atkins had 39 and 47 points to win by a single shot!

The morning Greensomes got off to a scrappy start but the boys managed to put together a reasonable round to card 39 points! at lunch they trailed by 4 points from            . The afternoon round of Better-ball started more promising, starting on the back 9 they carded 22 points, and at the turn they both knew they had to make some birdies! Their back 9 (front 9 of the course) they made birdies on 1, 2, 3, and 4, then birdies at 7 and 9 to finish with 47 points.

I have to say all in all, a quite spectacular season so far! possibly the finest the club has seen from a junior section! Keep up the hard work, that you all have put in over the last couple of years!

Also I would like to welcome some of the younger members of the section to the club and to say come along and join in and meet the other younger boys because in a few years time, with hard work and practise you too will be able to achieve some of the things that the older boys that have been mentioned earlier have achieved!

Have Your Say

"We want as much feedback as possible from the juniors this year, what they want to see and do and also what they don't like!" was the statement given to us by the junior organisers.  To get in contact with Rodney you can either ring the golf club, go & see them in the shop or email them.  All contact details are available on the junior web site
